KURO

Kuro is the best friend of Luka, and roommate of Sinsi. He is a catlike monster with white, fuzzy skin and an extremely nervous personality. He is usually the brains of Luka's plans and often forms elaborate (but mostly false) conspiracy theories. 

BACKGROUND

There isn't much known about where Kuro came from. He is believed to be younger than Sinsi and around the same age as Luka. 

As a teenager, he was known to be extremely gifted, but very difficult to interact with due to his anxiousness and quirky disposition. Because of his inability to focus and tendency to get obsessed with things, he was often thought to be dumb or lazy, and thus passed over. At some point he entered college, hoping to major in physics, but quickly dropped out, unable to stand the rigid rules and workload. It was here that he met Sinsi, a young humanoid monster with a big heart. Sinsi quickly took Kuro under his wing, trying his best to understand the lonely young monster's differences. Eventually they became best friends, almost like brothers.

Currently, Kuro lives with Sinsi in their apartment building, under Luka's watchful rule. He often stays in his room, planning out elaborate theories, or conducting experiments to prove his points. It is not uncommon to find him surrounded by papers and books, his eyes wide as he explains his advanced ideas.

APPEARANCE

Kuro is a catlike monster with very white, barely fuzzy skin. He has unkempt, bubblegum pink hair, usually falling in locks around his face and on the end of his tail. He has very large pointed ears filled with light blue hair, and a very small, button nose. Instead of fingers, he has rounded pawlike hands tipped with small claws. His feet are similar, being bigger paws with a single round pad in the middle. He also features round, slightly bulging yellow eyes with a small pupil or none, and a small mouth filled with sharp canines. A ring of pink fur grows around his waist and across his stomach.

Kuro is usually seen wearing a slightly Japanese-styled bathrobe the same white as his skin. The robe has a light blue belt and matching scarf with a red shoulder, trim and side. There is a small coin on a string hanging from his scarf. A slit runs up to his hip on the side of the robe. It is usually drawn to give the appearance of being too big, since he is a small and skinny person. A light blue sleeve is worn over his thick, heavy tail, which he usually drags on the floor behind him. 

ABILITIES

HIGH IQ: He is very, very adept with comprehending complex concepts. However, he does not have great social skills, Sinsi usually being his mouthpiece.

PERSONALITY:

Kuro is one of the most brilliant monsters in Luka's realm. He is curious, logical, and serious. A logical approach is how he faces the world, almost completely oblivious to the emotional side of things. He craves mental stimulation and often seeks puzzles,riddles, or even crimes to explore and solve,with a methodical process. 

He is shown to be very reckless and poor at self care, sometimes becoming so absorbed in his work he forgets to take breaks to sleep or eat. As a result, he usually appears tired, unhealthy, and grouchy. He doesn't like to be touched or bothered and usually prefers places without large crowds. Blunt and socially lacking, most humor goes over his head, so he doesn't like jokes. Anxiousness, awkwardness, and clumsiness plague his persona, and therefore he doesn't have many friends, nor does he want them. He is moody and temperamental. 

Despite his usual stone-faced appearance, he is shown to become very animated at times. Once he has found a solution to an issue or a new angle, Kuro can easily transform into a very excited and cheerful creature. This euphoria can last up to a week, and there's usually no stopping it.

Even though he can be a difficult person, Kuro has a good heart under all his layers. When presented with the option, he will usually do the right thing. He is gentle with animals, and although he seems selfish, he loves Sinsi and would do anything for him. He is a kind and thoughtful being, sometimes hampered by his intense mind.

ALLIES & RELATIONSHIPS

Sinsi: Sinsi is Kuro's best friend, caretaker, and confidant. Without him, Kuro would be nearly helpless. They share an apartment and are always seen as a pair. While Sinsi may not share his friend's amazing wits, his big, loving heart enables him to tolerate and help Kuro much more than most. Sometimes they fight, especially over Kuro's self destructive habits, but they always amend. It is he whom Kuro runs to for safety, and he who makes sure he stays on the right track. It isn't uncommon to find the feline asleep next to his friend after a long, difficult day. In fact, Sinsi may be the only one who has seen Kuro's true,beautiful self.

Bob: Bob is the goldfish shared by both Kuro and Sinsi. Originally intended to be Kuro's responsibility, he mostly belongs to Sinsi. He is often shared on their social media posts.

Luka: Luka is one of Kuro's other friends. While not as close as other relationships, they enjoy each other's company. Kuro doesn't always "get" Luka's wild dreams, but he does his best to help the prince and understand him. It's Kuro who Luka calls on for a gadget or scientific advice.

Aldrich Fleming: Aldrich and Kuro get along well due to their common interests and similar seriousness. They speak the same scientific language, and, up until Aldrich's transformation, would bounce ideas off of each other. This drives a small wedge between Sinsi and Kuro, the former a little jealous of the logical bond the two researchers have.

LIKES, DISLIKES, AND TRIVIA

- He is frightened of dogs due to unknown reasons. This may be because most dogs are messy, loud, and sporadic, things he clearly dislikes.

- He shares many similarities with Sheldon Cooper from Big Bang Theory and BBC's Sherlock. Actually, Kuro and Sinsi's relationship models that of Watson and Sherlock. 

- His original personality was bubbly and adventure seeking. This was later changed to give him a complexity, as well as his original bird design being dropped.

- Kuro is a passionate bonsai enthusiast and keeps a small cherry blossom tree on his windowsill. 

- He is confirmed to have ADHD and displays symptoms of autism. When asked why this is, I have stated that "my sister has these, and I love her for it. She's brilliant and I want to bring to light how amazing these people are." His most recognizable traits are his dislike of changes, being touched, loud noises, and craving for feedback. For this reason, Sinsi often carries a beanbag in his jacket pocket in case Kuro needs to calm down with it. 

- The artist (me) once said "His tail is very big and very heavy. If children were near it, they would play with it and use it in their games like a snake or a river." 

- Kuro is fluent in Italian, French, and Spanish.

- He has a scar on his cheek from falling into a bench as a child. 

- Whenever he is pleased or asleep, he purrs deeply. According to Savvy, it sounds like a rumbling, gravelly noise in his chest. 

 - I don't like to play favorites, but he is one of my most beloved characters, and very personal to me.
