PRINCE LUKANOS

 PRINCE LUKANOS

Prince Lukanos (Luka) is the mascot of my art and the prince of my universe. He is a childish and young ruler who often takes on more than he can handle. He is the main protagonist of the A plot and is usually seen protecting his friends and allies as his position commands. 

BACKGROUND

Not much is known about Luka's beginnings. In fact, he does not even know himself, other than that he burst into existence around the beginning of time. After growing into a mature age, he was designated as the sole caretaker, ruler and representative of a place for monsters to thrive. He is usually seen juggling many responsibilities, hanging out with his friends, or attempting to solve problems. 

His most notable work would be the concert he arranged to bring recognition to his cause. After a chaotic series of events, he was able to convince the DJ Lyrical Mixer to appear and hold a performance, bringing together many of his subjects and proving his capability as a leader. He is also known for defeating Pons the mercenary in a one on one battle, ensuring the safety of the people he loves dearly.

APPEARANCE

 Luka is depicted as a dark blue or navy monster with yellow details. He is usually around five feet tall, although he has been shown capable of changing size at will. He has a thick collar of feathers on his neck and shoulders, as well as some covering his waist and in between his legs. His head features two large feather bunches with a golden stripe across them, and several bunches of yellow feathers underneath. One of the most notable features are his large yellow eyes, which seem to glow.

He also has only four claws or fingers, the middle claw being hard and yellow. He has a thick blue tail with stripes of gold or yellow, and is usually depicted with round eyebrows and bent, digitigrade legs. Most of the time he wears a small golden crown. It is unclear whether he is covered in feathers or fur, or maybe a combination of both. Luka also has fangs and notably, no visible nose. Sometimes he has gold stripes on his wrists and legs, much like the Pokemon Luxray, although these are often left off in artist's interpretations. He is almost never pictured in clothing. 

He is usually depicted as being quite muscular despite his youth, and a bit threatening if he desires to be.

ABILITIES

BEAST FORM

Luka is capable of transforming into a large, birdlike monster known as Beast Forme. This is a heavy and athletic creature with an avian head and wolflike body. It retains most of or all of his normal appearance, although it cannot speak.

It is noted that he only takes this form when he is excited or provoked. Being capable of so much strength and ferocity, he tends to reserve it for protecting those he loves. However, he is still a child and therefore sometimes changes into it by accident, often causing mishaps.

An important appearance of Beast Luka was when he used it to rescue his friends from a collapsing monorail. This provided the maturity Lyric needed to see in order to hold his concert. 

BITE AND PHYSICAL STRENGTH

Luka is capable of a painful bite or scratch. At his normal size, he is also noticeably stronger than an adult human. 

SIZE MANIPULATION

He is apparently able to control his size at will, although he does not use this often. It should be noted his max size is five feet high, and he can only go down to one foot tall. This small stature is only used when he is tired, trying to be inconspicuous, or wants to feel cuddled and protected. Five feet is his usual height, as it makes him appear mature and capable of managing his kingdom. 

LEVITATION

He can levitate up to three feet off the ground and no higher. This can only be attempted when he is between the sizes of eight inches and two feet, any bigger being too heavy for him to float. 

PERSONALITY

Luka is shown to be a very colorful person. He is childish, naïve, and hasty, as many children are. He often overreacts to small details and sometimes displays an immature temper. He is also shown to be a little spoiled due to his royal position, as seen when he doesn't understand at first how monsters aren't often welcome. Whenever his terrible cooking is mentioned, he usually becomes very upset, as well as when he does not receive what he wants. Whenever this happens, he will sulk for a little bit or find a way to get what he cannot have. He also displays a bit of a short temper, such as when he snaps at Fizz and Spire during their argument in the courtyard.

However, he is also known to be capable of deep emotion and wise thinking. He displays great ambition and optimism as he tries to provide for his residents. He often introspects and ponders his motives and skills as a leader, sometimes leading to self-doubt and nervousness. Luka is shown throughout the course of his story to come off as spoiled and rude, where in reality, he is empathetic and compassionate, but does not know how to act due to largely raising himself. Overall, he is a sweet, hopeful kid, who simply needs to learn to grow up. He's also shown to be very cuddly and a little craving of friendly, undivided attention, sometimes coming off as babyish or clingy. 

ALLIES & RELATIONSHIPS

"I respect everyone. Everyone deserves my respect."

Sinsi: Sinsi is one of Luka's closest friends and allies. He is very friendly and encouraging towards Luka and the two are often seen together throughout the course of the story. Sinsi is the emotional anchor and sometimes parent of the prince, although they sometimes disagree due to Luka's temper and Sinsi's more sensitive side. Despite their occasional squabbles, they are very close friends, but it is seen that Kuro is closer with Sinsi than Luka is. 

Kuro: Kuro is Luka's other close friend and partner. Being anxious, and serious, as well as displaying some learning differences and quirks, Kuro did not get along well with Luka at first. However, they eventually began to understand one another, and now hang out on a daily basis. Kuro is supportive of Luka's endeavors and often tries to solve his problems rather than listen. Though he often does not understand Luka's personality, the two are shown to be quite close, but their relationship is not as passionate as Kuro and Sinsi's. They even blatantly resent each other at times, such as when Luka tells Kuro to just "Be normal", though this is usually amended.

Banks: Banks is seen as a mentor and often helper to Luka. Due to his social status and popularity, it is Banks who Luka often asks for favors or advice. The two seem to be friendly, although not really close outside of various business endeavors. 

Lyrical Mixer: Lyric is Luka's idol. The prince seems to adore and even obsess over the DJ's latest song or video, claiming he is his "best and biggest fan." However, when encountering each other, Luka often becomes shy and embarrassed. The advice Lyric gave the prince before his concert is apparently something he took to heart. The only recorded instance of hostility between them was a bit of friendly banter when Luka crushed on Lyric's ex, Serenade. Lyric is shown to be kind and helpful to the younger monster, even considering him like a little son or brother.

Serenade: For a little while, the prince crushed on Serenade, a beautiful harpy monster with an outstanding voice. However, after realizing he was going too far and that his love lay with his people, he eventually gave up on the notion. It is unknown if Luka enjoys her music or if it's her looks that he adores. It is also unknown whether she ever returned the feelings, although the answer is probably no.

Xavier Spineworth: Luka and famous actor, Xavier Spineworth, are probably the most hostile towards each other. It's mostly seen as Luka not being able to understand or liking Xavier's rude, unsavory and sleazy personality. Xavier, who is often out of it or not paying attention, doesn't seem to care or notice Luka. Despite this, Luka wishes he could help Xavier, and unlike most people, doesn't realize that Xavier is far out of his hands.

Spire and Fizzle: The two bee and wasp monsters presented the biggest challenge to Lukanos during the early days of his leadership. Their constant arguing and general dislike of each other frustrated and aggravated the young prince. After many attempts to bridge the gap, and lashing out at them at least once, he found them both to be bonded by their love of music. To this day, he sees their friendship as one of his best accomplishments. 

James Jonesy: Not much of a relationship exists between the older captain and Luka, besides their mutual friendship as prince and resident. Luka has noticed and enjoys how Jonesy is very good with children, and keeps it in mind for further use. 

Pons and Hanema: Pons and Luka are direct adversaries of each other. They fight often, usually with the intent to harm or even kill. This is attributed to Pons's role as an assassin and his refusal to submit to Luka's authority, believing him unfit as prince. Luka resents Pons for endangering his people, and finally kills him in a showdown after it goes too far. Hanema, however, being more rational than his friend, experiences a change of heart after he and Luka see eye-to-eye. He eventually becomes a bodyguard to Luka, though this is mostly a title due to the prince being able to protect himself. 

LIKES, DISLIKES, AND TRIVIA

- It has been confirmed that Luka is over a hundred years old, but still a child due to slow maturity rate.

- His favorite songs are The Baddest by K/DA and The Circle Of Life from the Lion King. His least favorite song is "Wolves" by Selena Gomez, claiming it "makes him wanna throw up."

- His optimism towards providing for others is similar to Charlie from Hazbin Hotel.

- He does not like hotdogs due to the fact that they are not dog shaped.

- He often confuses the terms "Wearily" and "Warily."

- His original coloration was black. However, this made details easily lost and wasn't friendly enough, so it was changed. According to the artist (me), it was black so "if you cried on him, it doesn't show up."

- He's a messy eater and likes buffalo sauce. He doesn't like relish.

- His name is a direct reference to the fan name for The Snatcher from 2017 game A Hat In Time. In this fandom, it is usually Lukas.

- The shape of his head is also a reference to The Conductor from A Hat In Time. (my favorite character!)

- His original personality was soft spoken and gentle, but it changed during development.

- He is sometimes pictured with a twin brother named Klau, a mostly scrapped character. Klau is an anagram of Luka, and a reference to the twins from Mother 3.

- Luka shares traits with Simba from the Lion King, in keeping with both being naive rulers. 

- He does not have a navel, or any eyelashes.

- He loves pillows, but doesn't like decorative ones. If he doesn't have a pillow, he sleeps curled in his tail. 

- He is sometimes likened to the wildness of Stitch from Lilo & Stitch.

- I once stated his favorite Pokemon would be Luxray. If he played Smash Bros, he would main Pit and Kirby.
